Chartreuses
The Chartreuses de Canon are an exceptional group of ten walled gardens, formerly known as “fruit gardens”. In the 18th century, espaliered fruit trees were grown here, benefiting from a veritable greenhouse effect thanks to the ingenious layout of the walls.
Replanted with abundant perennial beds during the 20th century, these gardens are in spectacular bloom in summer.
Peonies, asters, dalhias and nasturtiums take it in turns throughout the season to create ravishing plant tableaux.
From arch to arch and from garden to garden, the narrow paths allow visitors to stroll through a fragrant maze of plants.
At the end of the central perspective, Pomona, goddess of abundance, watches over the site. Discover the rose garden at Les Chartreuses.
