Park restoration
Extensive restoration work was carried out throughout the 20th century, successively restoring the fabriques, de-silting the canals, replanting, restoring the statuary and all the pathways! This work was rewarded with the Grand Trophée Dassault Le Figaro in 2022!
The courtyard of honor
The main courtyard was completely replanted following the storms of the 20th century, and all the buildings surrounding it (château, outbuildings) restored.
Statues
Between 2017 and 2019, the 27 marble statues in the park were restored thanks to the contributions of 184 donors!
Water mirror
The water mirror and the park’s entire hydraulic network have undergone major maintenance work over the last few decades.
Temple
The 18th-century Greek temple, badly damaged after the war, was completely restored in the 20th century and will be illuminated in 2021.
Château Béranger
Roofs, colonnades and window frames were refurbished following storm damage.
Kiosk
Restoration of the framework and repainting have restored the kiosk to its former glory. A major new restoration phase was completed in 2024, thanks to the DRAC, the Conseil départemental du Calvados and the French Heritage Society.
Chartreuses
The restoration of these walled gardens involved raising 850 meters of walls and replanting spectacular flowerbeds.
Orangery
The orangery opens onto the kitchen garden, which has been completely refurbished to host wedding cocktails!
Roseraie
The white chartreuse has given way to a magnificent contemporary rose garden, planted in 2020 with 120 collection roses thanks to 230 donors!
Angelots
After restoration of the original terracotta, a 22-part mold was used to make a faithful copy that could withstand the cold winters.
Salle des Rosières
Canon’s historic village hall was restored to its former festive glory in 2006.
